Lake Buena Vista, FL (8/1/2026) – The Annual Florida Authors and Publishers Association President’s Book Awards recognized Chick Stories: A Memoir of Adventures Lived, Laughter Shared, and Lessons Learned with My Girlfriends, by Patti M. Walsh, in the category of Autobiography/Memoir, as a Silver medal winner.
Hosted by the Florida Authors and Publishers Association, this prestigious national award was open to books published between 2024 and 2026. The judges for this national competition are librarians, educators, and publishing professionals.
The FAPA President’s Book Awards recognize book publishing excellence and creativity in design, content, and production for authors, illustrators, cover designers, and publishers. This contest isn’t limited to Florida; it is open to anyone worldwide, as long as the book is written in English. We encourage entries from all who share our complex and wonderful language.
Chick Stories, published by Padmagraphs Publishing, is a collection of 47 essays detailing travesties, tragedies, and comical calamities. Filled with historical and cultural context, the essays encourage readers to recall their own adventures, laughter, and lessons—with or without their girlfriends.

FAPA medals were awarded August 1, 2026, at an awards celebration during the organization’s annual conference, FAPACon, at the Hilton Buena Vista Palace in Orlando, Florida.
