FAPA Recognizes “Chick Stories” with President’s Book Award

June 1, 2026

Orlando, Florida

Chick Stories, a memoir by Fort Myers author Patti M. Walsh, is a finalist in the 2026 Florida Authors and Publishers Association (FAPA) President’s Book Awards.

Subtitled “A Memoir of Adventures Lived, Laughter Shared, and Lessons Learned with My Girlfriends,” Chick Stories is a compilation of 47 essays that detail travesties, tragedies, and comical calamities. Filled with historical and cultural context, the essays encourage readers to recall their own adventures, laughter, and lessons—with or without their girlfriends.

Each year, the FAPA President’s Book Awards recognize book publishing excellence and creativity in design, content, and production for authors and publishers. This contest is open to anyone in the world, as long as the book is written in English. Finalists are chosen by publishing professionals, librarians, and educators from within and outside of Florida.

FAPA medals will be awarded August 1, 2026, at an awards celebration during the organization’s annual conference, FAPACon, at the Hilton Buena Vista Palace in Orlando, Florida.
