The 2025 Annual Florida Authors and Publishers Association (FAPA) President’s Book Awards recognized Hounded as a gold medal winner in the Middle-Grade (Children/Young Adult) Fiction Category.

Hounded, a contemporary coming-of-age novel inspired by the legendary Irish warrior Cú Chulainn, is illustrated by William E. Green III.

The FAPA President’s Book Awards Program recognizes book publishing excellence and creativity in design, content, and production for authors, illustrators, cover designers, and publishers. This prestigious national award is open to authors worldwide, as long as the book is written in English and published between 2023 and 2025. The judges are librarians, educators, and publishing professionals.

“I wish to congratulate all of our winners,” said FAPA’s President, Robert Jacob. “Our book awards program is vital to the publishing industry because it serves to recognize excellence and creativity not just for authors, but for publishers and everyone involved in creating the book. Earning a medal is a remarkable accomplishment and a testament to each winner’s skill and talent.”

Patti M. Walsh won a silver medal in 2023 for Ghost Girl, in which a young girl is befriended by ancestral ghosts to find her place in an ancient family amid the challenges of the modern age.

  1. Congratulations! Well deserved!

  2. Hey Patti,
Yesterday i finished reading “Hounded” and can barely express how much i enjoyed it…even as a 76 year old woman. Of course i identified with Alba and her eccentric lifestyle in dress and natural healing…even stick fighting though mine is a Chinese Wand for exercise as taught by Master John Bolus at the Hippocrates Health Center and Hapkido, a Korean Martial Art learned in Santa Fe Massage and Healing Academy…also where Michael Moore was our Master Herbalist.
So you know i loved “Ghost Girl” which tied in so beautifully…now i am waiting for #3 or THE VIDEO!

  3. Congratulations, Patti!! You’ve worked hard for this recognition.

  4. Congratulations Pat!!! So happy for you!!!
    Mary
